ISSUES 1 - 5
- Obsessive and nosy, Lottie spends her time stalking her ex's social media accounts at her favorite coffee shop. When she goes to pick up her drink, her hand brushes against someone she immediately dubs Coolgirl (real name: Caroline). After exchanging compliments, Coolgirl asks for Lottie's number and they part ways. Later on, they meet at a bar. They talk and drink until they both spot Lottie's ex, Sunny, and his new girlfriend, Charlene. Right then, Lottie realizes it's officially over with him and her allergies begin to flare up. She flees to the restroom to try and mitigate this issue, only to 1.) drop her medication all on the ground, and 2.) have Caroline unlock the door and barge inside. Immediately upon entry, Caroline slips on one of Lottie's spilled allergy pills and cracks her head against the floor. It's some time following this that they reunite and Lottie discovers that she didn't murder Coolgirl and that she's very much alive.
- New Years arrives, and Lottie and the gang (Misty and Meg, her only friends in both work and personal life) are invited. The second she arrives at this party, she's got nothing but bad luck. So when Caroline comes to her, it's a blessing until she insists she needs a drink. Lottie counters that she can't - it'll mess with her medication. Caroline doesn't like this, guilt-trips her, then leaves. She roams after that, finding a crying Charlene. They open up, and when the New Year hits, Charlene kisses Lottie. Caroline re-appears, bleeding, asking if Charlene is bothering Lottie - before promptly pushing her off the balcony.
ISSUES 6 - 10
- One to not want any drama in her life, Lottie ghosts Caroline. At first, Lottie puts her foot down. Cuts Caroline off after they all go to court. Still, it doesn't take much for her to bring her back in her life, deep down still wanting Coolgirl by her side. In fact, all it only takes is one relative: Caroline's brother Virgil, for her to text her again. She meets her, insisting she needs to get her life together and invites her to brunch with Misty and Meg. After that, they all go on a trip to San Diego for a Comic-Con afterparty. The entire drive is filled with shouting - Lottie is too stressed for her good and takes it out on her friends until they all cry. Caroline is the only one laughing, egging everyone on with her foul attitude until no one can take it.
- The gang's officially at Thankstravaganza, a convention for influencers. What Lottie hopes to be a great trip, turns into the opposite. She's forced to room with Meg (instead of Caroline?!! How is she supposed to woo her if she can't room with her?!), and... Is haunted by a ghost?! Lottie chalks it up to her medication and its side effects, but isn't sure. She still isn't, even when Meg walks back into the room after proudly proclaiming that her and the girls ditched her to go hot tubbing. The very next morning the police arrive, and an investigation is underway for a dead blogger.
- With no leads on whodunnit, the girls get food. Caroline leaves to get a drink, and Misty & Meg confess that they think Caroline had something to do with the murder. Lottie, ever enamored, refuses to believe this. It wins her Caroline's affection when she comes back, and an invite to a photoshoot she wants to do in the desert. The gang all go, and it doesn't take long for them to figure out that something is wrong. After some prodding, Caroline reveals she drugged the tea they all drank before they came. Lottie freaks out, crying before she's kissed by Caroline. The next thing she sees is Esther, recusing her before they leave back to LA (presumably, after a drug-induced haze of a night wandering the desert). After, they discuss business opportunities to help expand Lottie's brand - at the same time she gets a text from Caroline about how they kissed.
ISSUES 11 - 14
- Back home, Lottie and Caroline go on their second date. After they go back to her place, they get interrupted by her sister Rosie. She takes over every facet of her home, prompting Lottie to go to Caroline's place for peace and quiet. Later that night, they throw a pool party -- t goes on for some time until Rosie gets smashed and vomits everywhere. When they get home, Lottie decides that is the perfect time to tell Rosie the Truth(tm) (To Get Out Of Her House). In the end, she stresses herself out so much she gets hives. The issue ends with Lottie and Rosie commiserating over being fuck-ups.
- Several weeks pass and Lottie and Esther's pop-up is open for business. What Lottie hopes to be a day dedicated to herself turns into ten billion other things. Meg comes to support but ends up having a breakdown, exactly at the same time her dog takes a shit on the carpet - forcing the pop-up to go on hold. While they're 'closed', Lottie takes a stab at comforting Meg but fails, so she tries to focus on the poop problem. In the time it takes for someone to arrive to clean it, not only do Lottie and Esther lose the dog, but Caroline has managed to arrive with no one noticing.
- So when she goes back to visit Meg holed up in the back, Caroline is there comforting her. A one-sided argument breaks out where Lottie shows her ass - clearly jealous and hurt that Caroline would come at Meg's beck and call but not her own - quickly prompting her allergies to flare up due to her emotions. Caroline warns her of it, before walking back out to her adoring crowd with a runny nose. She doesn't immediately notice, only keying in when the comments of her fans become louder ("What is that? Is that a-"). Caroline comes out from the closet during this, wipes Lottie's boogers away and then uses the opportunity to kiss her.
- Lottie proceeds to go viral after that incident, prompting her to have a permanent staycation inside her house until the hype dies down. It's at this time that she's reminded she has a bachelorette party to go to ("Normgirl's stupid bachelorette party") - so she leaves with her sister and Misty in tow to go support. When they arrive, it's pretty sad - they're the only people who didn't flake. And they probably should've, given the fact that they end up crafting wedding decorations the entire time. An awkward conversation about Meg's fiance and his attempts at fucking her friends prompts Meg to reveal, in turn, that she and Caroline hooked up to Lottie - causing a rift in their friendship.
- We're a few months further into the future, this time with Lottie and Esther arriving at Meg's wedding. It's a big event hosted up in Idyllwild, California. Most of the it is comprised of Lottie trying to get a word in edge wise with Caroline, and when they all huddle together for a group photo to commemorate the moment, Lottie takes the chance to steal her away. They walk further into the woods, stopping shy of a cliff to have their secluded talk comprised of Lottie simply wanting answers about what they are and what's happening with Caroline.
ISSUE 15-16
- Before she can give a definitive answer, Caroline slips and falls off the cliff, hitting head first on the rocks below and dying instantaneously. Lottie meets her below to check on her, and after she decides to call for help.. She slips and falls, too, spraining her ankle and destroying her phone. Eventually, Caroline wakes up and reveals her mystifying secret: she can die and come back to life. She has no idea why, but she always does. And as a way to sate a frantic Lottie she kisses her and calls it official: they're girlfriends now. Issue 15 ends with Caroline and Lottie making out in the woods while Meg's wedding burns in the LA fires.
- Lottie recovers at Caroline's Hollywood Hills mansion, discovering the joys of a new relationship with her. For an undetermined amount of time, they are in their own world up until Lottie's sprained ankle is mostly healed and they decide to Go Outside. They arrange a brunch with Ester and Misty, where they talk and play catch up about where Lottie's been and the online world after her hiatus. Turns out: Lottie is TikTok famous. She finds this out after she speaks to (read: "maturely" "talks" to "her") Meg, who purposely flaked on her brunch for another at the same restaurant. Someone else is there, too, though.. Lottie's mom!! She tries her best to avoid her (AKA: leaving the restaurant with Caroline) but ends up getting caught and forced into a conversation. While talking, Caroline casually outs Lottie to her mother before roping them into a Meet-the-Parents esque dinner.
